Nov. 12 (UPI) — Eight worldwide peacekeepers, together with six American troopers, have been killed Thursday in a helicopter crash in Egypt, navy officers mentioned.

The Multinational Drive and Observers, a world pressure overseeing the phrases of the 1978 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, mentioned the peacekeepers died close to Sharm el-Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula throughout a routine mission.

Eight of the 9 members concerned within the crash have been killed, together with six Individuals, a French citizen and a Czech nationwide, the officers mentioned. None have been initially recognized.

The survivor is an American coalition member and was medically evacuated.

“There isn’t any data to point the crash was something besides an accident,” the coalition mentioned.

The reason for the crash wasn’t instantly recognized.

There are greater than 400 U.S. navy personnel within the 1,100-member coalition that is a part of the MFO mission within the Sinai Peninsula.
