Dec. 1 (UPI) — Armed robbers shot not less than two individuals early Tuesday in a siege of a Brazilian coastal metropolis, authorities mentioned.

The siege began with about 30 hooded individuals robbing the Banco de Brasil department in Criciuma, a metropolis within the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, at 11:50 p.m. Monday and lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes, Brazil’s Globo Information reported. It included armed robbers utilizing gunfire, hostages as shields, setting off explosions, and establishing blockades from police.

The robbers shot not less than two individuals amid the siege, based on the mayor and police.

A army policeman and a guard have been shot, and each survived, Globo Information reported.

Over the practically two hours, the robbers hit 4 banks, and blew up money machines in each, in an assault leading to a gunfight with police, based on information stories.
