Jan. 2 (UPI) — An Military soldier and an unidentified 16-year-old boy have been charged with homicide in reference to an Military corporal who was discovered useless in New Jersey final month.

Based on the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Workplace, Jamaal Mellish, 23, and {the teenager} have been charged this week with felony homicide, kidnapping and second-degree weapons — and Mellish was charged with third-degree suppression of proof.

Hayden Harris, 20, was discovered shot to loss of life Dec. 19 after being reported lacking earlier that week.

Firefighters discovered Harris’ physique throughout an annual Santa experience, after they noticed blood and particles alongside the roadway.

Based on investigators, Mellish was supposed to satisfy Harris, whom he had interacted with beforehand, to alternate a Ford Mustang for a Chevy pickup truck.

Mellish is in army custody in New York awaiting extradition to New Jersey, and the 16-year-old is being held at a juvenile detention heart.

Authorities haven’t launched details about the youthful suspect’s alleged involvement within the slaying.

Harris, a Tennessee native stationed at New York’s Fort Drum, joined the Military in March 2019 and earned the Nationwide Protection Service Medal, the World Conflict on Terrorism Service Medal in addition to the Military Service Ribbon.

He was posthumously promoted to corporal and awarded the Military Commendation Medal.
